Cutting edge Printing

Overview

Bollington Printshop was first established under the name of L.N. Cards in 1982 by the current owner Simon Nottage. The original company created a range of original, handmade greetings cards, which were sold up and down the country. Now, over 30 years on, the business incorporates the design and printing of all types of stationery and associated items, both for home and business use. They remain an independent company specialising in high quality printing and original design. They also offer a range of additional services including photography, fine art reproduction, digital originals for artists and the latest 3D print technology. The emphasis is on personal service and an ability to “go the extra mile” including a same day service on selected services when required.

Challenges

Although well established and with a host of loyal customers, Bollington Printshop is facing tough competition with industry prices falling along with profit margins, and the steady growth of Internet based printers offering creative designs and fast turnaround. Consequently, bread and butter sales can no longer be relied on to grow the business, and a major investment in Giclee printing has recently been made to differentiate Bollington Printshop from its competitors. Giclee printing is in its infancy, and although recent press publicity has raised awareness of its capabilities, the concept is seen as a missionary sell which means that awareness of both the company and the product has to be developed along with a credible return on investment proposition to potential customers.
